Summer of SOFTENING

A summer for

the soul.

A portion of all proceeds from this series will support the Freedom Flotilla Coalition and grassroots humanitarian efforts on the ground in Gaza.

Too often, softness is associated (whether consciously or unconsciously) with passivity and weakness, and hardness with strength and fortitude. But, it is the hard things that break. Not the soft things.

Softness allows us to stay with the pain, brokenness and suffering (within and all around us) because it does not try to be indestructible and withstand the wind. It permits, cradles, bends, and nests around the ache.

These offerings, which I have carefully curated for the summer, invite us to soften into love and kindness, to move in less rigid structures, and to experience the strength that we can access when we embrace our fragility.

the intention for the series...

“When your reach your edge, soften. Soften until you slip through the constraints and can create a new rhythm, a new route, a new release.”

“Your suffering needs to be respected. Don't try to ignore the hurt, because it is real. Just let the hurt soften you instead of hardening you. Let the hurt open you instead of closing you.”

Webinar Schedule:

It is no secret that we are weathering difficult times.

It can feel tempting to turn our gaze away from the suffering, darkness, confusion and oppression happening all around us. And direct our attention inwards.

For many of us, empathy overload is a real thing. We can easily find ourselves feeling helpless or frustrated or stuck or overwhelmed.

And the number one symptom of overwhelm is paralysis.

But staying still in a dark world screaming for our light creates further internal distress and harm.

There is a saying in therapeutic circles, which I am sure many of you have heard before — Action alleviates anxiety.

If I were to reimagine this in a spiritual framework, I might say something like, Service and impact sooth a restless soul.

This serves as the foundation for our 3-part series, Restoring Soul in a Fractured World and I hope you’ll join me.*

  • Part i: Soma – June 29th
  • Part II: Psyche – July 20th
  • Part III: Soul – August 10th

*While each session can be registered for individually, it is highly recommend joining all three, as they build upon one another to offer a deeper, more integrated journey.

Weekly Schedule:

This is a weekly yoga asana and pranayama practice that focuses on building equanimity in the nervous system.

Having trained with Dr. Arielle Schwartz in Applied Polyvagal Theory, I bring another dimension to my yoga teaching and sequences. Each one designed carefully to help release stress, trauma, and pent up energy through various movement and breath practices.

This is a chance for us to gather in community and move in ways that will nurture our body, mind and soul. All ability levels are welcome.
